Question
What is the difference between POP and IMAP? Which is better
Answer
Both POP and IMAP have their good and bad points. Which one is better? Well, that depends upon your needs
IMAP
IMAP was designed with multiple accesses in mind. Rather than lock mailboxes when checking mail, like it's counterpart POP3, IMAP can save changes instantly, and load emails from the server almost just as instantly.
While it's common for IMAP messages to remain on the server, it is possible to download them to your local computer with slight adjustments to your email client

POP3
Unlike IMAP, POP3 locks the mailbox you are trying to access, preventing other individuals (or devices) from accessing it as well
Unlike IMAP, earlier implementations of POP3 downloaded mail to your computer by default

Webmail
Webmail programs allow you to access your email account from anywhere. These are opened from a browser, and you can access webmail by pointing your browser to https://yourdomain.com/webmail
The advantage to webmail programs over email clients is that they are easily accessible via your browser.
The disadvantage to webmail programs over email clients is that they do not allow you to save your mail on your computer
Webmail is great for the individual constantly on the go

Conclusion
If you want to access your email account over multiple devices (phone, tablet, laptop, workstation, desktop), then IMAP is going to be the way to go for you. Ensure that you are not downloading mail to the computer, and that you are saving drafts, sent mail, etc, on the server
If you want to access your email account via only one device (ie: desktop only), then POP3 will work just fine for you.
